1,700 iterations of whatever.

Four years ago today, I began to type a sporadic stream of hopefully interesting snippets into a service called Blogger, subsequently publishing them on this site. That was over 1,700 snippets ago. It was a significant change in direction for me, that is, to write and publish something on a almost daily basis. A good … More

Attention caught.

Indulge me for but a moment, while I list a few things that have managed to temporarily wrench me away from my current state of busy over the past week or so. Blacktree’s Quicksilver launcher widget thingie. Yet another BBEdit update. The PlusDeck PC mod. Subscribing to iCal calendars with a Newton. Bluetooth drivers for … More

Cheyco blogs.

Go figure. It looks like my brother-in-law is blogging again. Nice to have you back Matt. How was Russia anyway? Apparently, the street corner MP3s are all the rage these days.

Feline timeline.

Cheetah. Puma. Jaguar. Panther. In celebration of, or perhaps more accurately, as a reflection of yesterday’s third anniversary of Apple shipping Mac OS X, Ars Technica takes a reminiscent look at the past three years of living with the cats and cleaning out their associated litterboxes.

Rush seats.

Silly me. I forgot to mention that we posted a new Lightboxing over at Veer. This month, a pair of hot-shot designers direct from the Big Nipple dive into the ring and come out swinging. Rush, don’t walk to see Taylor Tyng vs Corey Holms in what is arguably one the strongest Lightboxing bouts yet.

Never fear, dear readers. All has been rectified, your prescription has been filled. Peruse our fresh stock of internet analgesics. (Recommended for … More

Rewired.

Just a quick note to let you know that regular programming will return to this site in relatively short order. I know I left it all here somewhere before I took off to points unwired. It must be buried somewhere under all this unanswered email.

Somewhat.

I’ve witnessed a load of questionably designed and inadequately proofread dialog boxes in my travels. But I’m at a complete lost on where to start with this one that popped up in front of me this morning while wrestling with LaCie’s SilverKeeper backup utility. I count seven major interface design errors, not even mentioning the … More

The girl and the geek.

The latest round of Lightboxing features retro-freshy Jen Funk Segrest knocking heads and Photoshop palettes with the ubiquitous Nate Steiner. It’s a country song in the making.

Faster copycat.

On a reasonably regular basis, I perform a complete backup of the entire veer.com web site (all of the html and image components anyway) to a dated archive. I have been doing this since the site was launched in July of 2002. I danced a similar jig while working on the EyeWire web site as … More
