Creating machines that interact more effectively with humans may require the use of natural methods of communication such as speech and vision. Designers need to shift away from the idea that simplification of the user interface and the automation of tasks allow users to learn and interact more effectively. Technology should begin to use commonplace means of exchanging information such as seeing, speaking, and listening, the same ways that humans have been interacting for millennia.
