My friend went to Burning Man, and all I got was this stupid Microsoft pamphlet. A vintage 1991 pamphlet, no less. Saved from the ravages of the final cleansing pyre that is the culmination of the Burning Man experience. It actually might have felt good to toss this yellowing, staple-bound profession of the Redmondian way into the flames. But if Mike had let it burn, then I wouldn’t have been able to flip through the touching descriptions of long lost programmatic stalwarts such as Microsoft File, Microsoft Mail, Microsoft QuickBasic, and the amazingly svelte Microsoft Excel 3.0 which came on a single 800KB floppy and ran in a single, unadorned megabyte of memory. Those were the days my friend.
