Retrospection.

As a lame attempt at refocusing and reevaluating, I’ve been going back through the blog archives every once in a while. Sweet mother of crap, I used to blather on about an awful lot of really good shit™.

My fave ‘out of context’ phrase from nearly six years ago?

“… mine has a trackball the size of a hamster …”

Heh.

Back then, you used to update your blog much more than now. I wish you could do the same today – I for one would like to know your opinion on “all things geek”. But hey, when one’s busy…

    Have a good weekend,
    Rick

Over the past couple of year in particular, I have run out of steam when it comes to blogging. Right now, it is harder for me to write about things, even if I’m passionate about them. I always told myself that I wasn’t blogging simply to link to cool stuff. I would only post something if it had some tangible value to others, offered a solution to a problem that wasn’t obvious, or if I could add some value to the discussion.

Currently, it’s Flickr that fills the blogging void. Photography is my outlet for expression, emotion, and aesthetic. The words will comes back at some point. But right now, it’s the visuals that are holding my interest.

I imagined something like that. And your Flickr page is one of the few I like to visit on a regular basis and probably the one I explore more thoroughly, especially your sets dedicated to Typography and environs, and the beautiful “Compunabula”.

And now that you’ve pointed this out, I can see your Flickr space more like a blog that tells short stories with images, which is not the same as a “photoblog”. I don’t know how to explain it better… It’s more like an illustrated book. And I love that.

    Take care,
    Rick

I think you have the idea. As I find more time to post interesting items, they’ll appear on the main blog component of splorp, com. But you’re correct in stating that Flickr is really my visual weblog. Although, I have been micro-blogging via Twitter as well.
